Pokemon had its humble beginnings in 1996 when the first video game was released for the Nintendo Game Boy. The franchise has grown considerably over the years, including anime, movies, TCG and toys, exponentially causing a meteoric rise in its popularity and fan base. In the traditional Pokemon games, the player assumes the role of a "Trainer" who has to travel the world to capture and train creatures known as Pokemon. With the use of a device, known as a Pokeball, trainers catch and raise each Pokemon by battling them against other trainers, while on a quest to become the Pokemon League Champion. |
Each game is filled to the brim with sidequests, like fishing, talent & beauty contests, tournaments, with the main quest being to catch all 718 Pokemon, thus extending game play and adding value for money.
The later games can even connect to the internet, allowing players to interact with other players across the globe. |
