What to Buy
Pokemon cards are not cheap so you need to make sure you buy smart and that you buy from a reputable dealer.
There are a variety of products available - some aimed at competitive players and some at collectors. Some dealers will attempt to sell you old stock that has been rotated out of play or collectors boxes which have very little value as far as deck construction goes. Prices can also vary wildly depending on the dealer. As leagues, we have partnered with the Battle Bunker group who provide us with safe venues to play and offer us the best possible deals available. We are consulted on a regular basis as to what stock needs to be obtained to best serve our needs. |
Starting out? Here are some tips.
Theme Deck: This will get you started with a playable deck that includes everything you need including cards, damage counters, condition markers and a play mat with full instructions. Cost: around R160 Booster packs: Make sure you get the latest - 10 cards that can either be used to better your deck or for trading. The best ones at the moment are from the Legendary Treasures set as it contains a lot of reprinted EX cards. Cost: R55 Legendary EX Tins: 3 booster packs and a very powerful EX card to boost your deck. Cost: around R200 Elite Trainer box: 8 booster packs, energy cards, acrylic markers, regulation dice, deck sleeves and a deck box. Cost: around R600 Deck sleeves: These will protect your investment and prevent your cards from getting damaged. Cost: around R125 for 100. We recommend Dragon Shield sleeves and deck boxes for the best protection available. |
